Bessie Lee Body departed from this life while resting peacefully in her home on June 10, 2014.

Bessie was born on December 29, 1932 to the late Annie (Rushing) Edwards in Belzoni, Mississippi. She was a faithful member of Day Break Baptist Church in Belzoni.

Bessie married W.D. Body. From this union was born James H. Body, Sr., Willie D. Body, Ora D. Body and David D. Body. She and W.D. moved to Columbus, Ohio in the late 1950's. She was a long time faithful member of The Upper Room Church of God. She later joined Christ Memorial Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of the late Reverend Ovell White. She was blessed with the honor and title of Mother of Christ Missionary. In 2007 Bessie Joined the Fancy Nell Ladies of the Red Hat Society. She remained an active member until her health changed.

Bessie was preceded in death by her mother Annie (Rushin) Edwards, her brothers Eddie B. Edwards adn Odell Edwards, her sisters Ruth Campbell and Luessie Burkes, her daughter Ora D. Body and her grandson Issiah Lewis.

She leaves to mourn her passing sons James (Maria) Body, Willie (Elaine)Body adn David Body; her sister Ruby Hammond and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in laws and friends.

The family wishes to say Thank You to all of you who attended this Going Home Celebration and to all of you who have kept us in prayer, said kind words, brought us nourishment, held our hands, etc.. in this time of passing. May God continue to watch over and bless each of you. May his strength be with us all.
