Claretha McCoffin was born on August 28, 1961 in Shelby, Mississippi to the late Willie Sutton and Minnie McCoffin. She departed her life on July 28, 2017 at 12:40 pm.
She attended Shelby High School then transferred to Columbus, Ohio where she joined So Help Me Church of Christ.
Claretha was a soul giving woman and had a head as hard as steele. She loved to cook and reminisce about her boo R. Kelly. She was also a family comedian so much she was given the name “meanie” by her grandson Jaquan aka Pook Sutton.
Claretha was preceded in death by her father Willie Sutton mother Minnie McCoffin, grandmother Minnie Brown, sister Shelia, brother Freddie B., Aunt Hattie Miller, cousin Emmual, granddaughter Mi queen, and friend Jean Payton.
Claretha left behind her siblings, Carlyon McCoffin, Murray McCoffin, Michelle McCoffin, Leah McCoffin, Johnny and Peanut McCoffin; kids, Terry McCoffin, Sherry McCoffin Omar McCoffin, Sauntal McCoffin, Mark, Eddie, and Dana Sr.; grandchildren, Jaquan, Tonnesha, Jakiyh, Creshauna, Virginia, Omare’yanhi, Eddie Jr., Errone, Shauvez, Dykyta, Dana Jr., Savon, Devonte, Lamar, Omar Jr., Daimar, Shaquille, O’viona, Alyja, C’Iona and Ha’Daysacia; a host of god kids, great grandkids, and special friends, Kendra Parks, Larry Moore, Shirley Simington, and Randy Shepherd.
