A precious one from us has passed. A voice we love is silent, and a place is vacant in our hearts which can never be filled.

Sunday, August 4th, at the age of 78, Deacon James E. Milligan heard the voice of God calling him home and answered. Deacon Milligan was born October 25th 1935 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the union of John Henry Sr. and Mary Milligan.

Preceded in death by parents John Henry Sr. and Mary Milligan, brother John Henry Jr, sisters Elizabeth Merritt, Constance Ross, and Alice Holland.

He was a graduate of Howard High School, Chattanooga, TN. Served over 20 years in the US Air Force. Employed with the Jefferies Mining Co. for ten years, and with Freuhauf Trailer Servise for over ten years. Became a member of Mt. Gerizim Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Jack E. Watkins and served as a Deacon for over 30 years, member of the Male Usher Board, Male Chorus, and the Gospel Choir.

He leaves to morn his passing; his wife Madeline, daughter Gwendolyn Milligan (Phelps), ex son-in-law Wayne Phelps, mother-in-law Thelma Pendergrass, sisters Daisy Palmer (Columbus) and Matilda Elder (Chattanooga, TN), grandchildren Richard, Nashundo, Monique, and Antwan, 8 1/2 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
