Obituary

Mr. Lindsay Lee Johnson, age 94 transitioned from Earth to Glory on January18, 2009 at Zusman Community Hospice in Columbus Ohio, after a brief illness. Mr. Johnson was born on June 14, 1914 in Winston, Salem North Carolina to the union of the late Mr. Lawson Johnson, & Mrs. Ruth Johnson and he was the middle child of three siblings. After graduation he was drafted into active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States on August 10, 1941. He traveled to Northern France, Panama Canal Zone, and England where he held and served in the elite transportation division of the U.S. Army as an Automotive Mechanic. Lindsay received various medals as he matriculated to the rank of Tech 4. Among his innumerable accomplishments Lindsay received military honors while serving his country. He received with admiration the American Campaign Medal World War II, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze star and finally the Good Conduct Medal. Upon completion of his military career Lindsay received an Honorable discharge from Active Duty on March 31, 1945.

After his discharge from Active Duty Lindsay later moved to Columbus, Ohio and worked in the field of Automotive Repair. Soon after, Lindsay befriended Deacon Michael Isreal and developed a lifelong friendship and it was throughout this friendship that Lindsay joined Emmanuel Memorial Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Samuel D. Ayers Jr. It was there at Emmanuel Memorial Church where he confessed his faith and later received his Certification of Ordination as Deacon Lindsay Lee Johnson. He received this ordination at the 27th Annual Religious Congress of the Neo-Pentecostal Churches on the 24th day of July 2005 witnessed by Deaconess Elizabeth Leonard and the Right Rev. Mrs. Barbara J. Ayers. There he would serve as a faithful member and Deacon until such time his health declined. Lindsay was a devoted member of Emmanuel Memorial Church where he dedicated his life to service. He found himself diligently working in God
