Della Kee Marbury

Della “Ditty, Auntie” Kee was born on September 9, 1927 to James and Easter Kee in Birmingham, Alabama. Della was one of 18 brothers and sisters, who attended and graduated from Hooper City High School in her hometown. Della accepted Christ at an early age at Christian Valley Baptist Church. Della then married and relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she joined Hebrew Baptist Church where the Rev. William Horsely was the pastor. She later united with Greater Twelfth Baptist Church where her brother Rev. Cleophus Kee served as pastor. Della continued to work faithfully as a servant for the Lord on the usher board and has a church announcer.

Della joined in holy matrimony with Reese Marbury and became Della Kee Marbury and was happily married for 52 years until the life transition of her late husband. To this union a beautiful baby girl who they named Corliss A. Marbury was created, and blessed having a grandson by the name of Anthony Maurice Marbury.

After retirement from Ohio State University in food service Baker Common she became a childcare provider who was affectionately known as “Missey” and a homemaker. She was an active member of the 10 Jolliettes social club who always opened her home for meetings, fun events, and her delicious h’orderves. Della was a loving mother who was humble, loved her family and remained the aunt to call on in any time of need. In raising some of her siblings from a young age she was known to be the matriarch of the family.

Della Kee Marbury later transcended into eternal rest on January 11, 2017. Predeceased by parents, James and Easter Kee, husband Reese Marbury, sisters: Arlene Jones (Charles), Mell Lee McGhee (Willie), Dora Mae Whitlow Kee, Dorothy Johnson Kee; brothers: Adam Kee, Isaiah Kee, Rev. Cleophus (Thelma) Kee, and sister in law: Johnnie Mae Kee.

Della leaves to cherish her daughter, Corliss Marbury and grandson, Anthony Marbury. two sisters: Matilda Atkins, Los Angeles California; Beatrice Trent, Columbus Ohio, and two brothers: James Kee, Columbus, Ohio; Rev. Napolean (Joyce) Kee, Columbus, Ohio, sister-in law: Ollie Mae Kee, Columbus, Ohio and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
