The Obituary

On August 26, 1994 God smiled down and blessed this loving family with the gift of Desmond L. Wright. God provided loving parents in the presence of Lynda Lemons and Harold Echols to guide and nurture him.

Desmond was a loving person with a sincere smile that was so bright it could light up any room he entered. Desmond was a calm spirit yet had a great sense of humor.

Desmond was outgoing and a friend to many, and as a result was loved and admired.
His most important relationship was with his brother Darius with whom he shared a special bond. Not only brothers but the best of friends, he continues to be a guiding force in Darius’s life.

Desmond was educated in the Columbus Public School System where he attended Elementary school at both Highland and Fifth Avenue International. He promoted to Mifflin Middle School and furthered his education at Centennial High School and Fort Hayes Career Center. His educational areas of interest were art, math, drama and construction. Desmond was a gifted artist and received recognition in 2005 in being selected to design the Tuskegee Airman Mural and the Annual school t-shirt.

At a very early age Desmond showed tenacity for sports and enjoyed the physical challenge of competing. He loved football, weightlifting and excelled in wrestling. While he received many awards, his greatest love was motivating his teammates to achieve their highest potential.

Desmond enjoyed his employment opportunities at the Columbus Metropolitan Zoo and loved bringing joy to children at Chucke Cheese’s.

Desmond made his mark in life and transitioned on January 28, 2012 leaving a void in the lives of many. He was preceded in death by his grandparents David and Carol Carter. His loving memory will be cherished by his parents, Lynda Lemons and Harold Echols; brother Darius; stepbrother and stepsisters, loving uncles and aunts, special cousin Nyesha “Nee-Nee” Carter; and a host of wonderful cousins, relatives, supportive teachers/coaches and caring friends.

He will be missed by all and forgotten by none.
