On February 2, 1925 the Lord gave a gift to Ernest Shaw and Etta Sebastian-Shaw as well as the world with the birth of Esther Dorothy Shaw-Waterman. Esther was the first of the five gifts the Shaw’s and the world would receive. While walking her path through life Esther herself was blessed with three gifts of her own: Carlton, Gregory and Robert. Along the path she walked Esther touched many lives as a caterer, a philanthropist and mentor to so many. Esther’s walk through life was filled with many memories that she shared with us all.
Sadly, on November 1, 2013, Esther found the end of her path and her journey through life was completed as the Lord called her home. Esther’s homegoing was preceded by those of her son Robert and her siblings Rupert, Ernest, and sister Goldie. Continuing to walk their paths through life is her sister Jennie Shaw, her sons Carlton (Joyce)and Gregory (Denise) along with the grandchildren Laura, Lenore, Chennette, Nyota, Robert, Taheera , Dhakaiya, Jamillion, and Junese along with countless great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

I love you Grandma! My heart is very heavy but I trust that God is in control. Don't you worry, I remember all that you've taught me and I'm going to continue to make you proud of me.
A son couldn't ask for more in a mother. You were my friend, protector and pillow to cry on when I was young. You will always be my "es;Shorty"es;.
Whenever I hear the words "es;Unconditional Love"es; I think of you. You help to make me the responsible women I am today. I Love you Mom.
My Aunt Esther was a beautiful, strong woman and I loved her dearly. She was always on the go and full of life. She was a fast driver, with a quick mind, and she always had a cake to mark our special occasions.
I feel blessed that I could call her aunt. She taught me that I could be strong and still be a lady. She taught me that it's okay to speak my mind. You always knew where you stood with Aunt Esther. There were no pretenses and it was all love. She wanted her family to do well and she was strong enough to shape our character when we strayed. I thank her for that.
She was one of the only two people who came to my high school graduation and I will always be grateful for that. I will always admire her strength, her love of life, and the love she had for her family. I thank her for being my aunt.
I was so blessed to live by Esther for the past few years. I was the first one to move in and she was the third. I cannot begin to tell you the fun that we had together along with some sadder times. I truly loved Esther and will miss her for the rest of my life as will you. She was a very special lady and a blessing to those of us who had the pleasure of knowing her.
