She married the love of her Life Clarence P. Ward in 1962 and celebrated 55 years of marriage earlier this year. Mother Ward as she was affectionately known was the mother of four children, Brent A , Brenda A, Kenny, Clarence Jr. Sister Ward was a former member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess and Nurses Boards and sang in the Inspirational choir. She retired from General Motors after 25 years of service September of 2001. Sister Ward joined Triedstone Baptist Church January 1979 and remained faithful until her health no longer permitted attendance. She LOVED her church and had a special relationship with Bishop Jerome Ross, Sr. and his family! She served with the Nurses Corp, Deaconess Board, Woman Be Blessed Ministry and Hospitality Committee. She was also responsible for the landscape of the church and took pride in her work! Mother Ward had a heart for people of all ages especially the youth and lent a helping hand with In His Image Mime Ministry. She was the visionary for Committee of Concern. She was instrumental in mentoring young women to carry out the principles of the Committee of Concern by taking them on visits and encouraging their growth in evangelism. It is obvious that Mother Ward wore many hats at Triedstone but her love for OSU Buckeyes was apparent by her favorite OSU hat! She followed all sports and especially enjoyed attending games of many of the Triedstone children! I started going to Triedstone at the age of 10 years old. Grandma Ward was always there with the her smiling face always telling people what to do. As I grew older and started high school, I started playing football, she was one of my many cheerleaders, rain or shine she was there. When I started college and had the opportunity to play football at Ohio State, Grandma Ward (a diehard buckeye fan) and my relationship got even closer. I got a chance to see the loving, caring, hard-working supportive person that she was even more. She always supported me no matter if I had a good game or bad game. She always told me there was more I could do. She pushed me to be better. During some of the biggest events of my life, such as me scoring the game winning touchdown against Michigan to my wedding day, Grandma Ward was always there cheering me on. I will never forget how special she was and she will always be in my heart. She often told me too, that I was her #1 buckeye., I will miss you. Here’s to you a buckeye salute. Rest in heaven grandma Ward.

    With Love,
