Jason Lewis was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 27, 1952 to the union of Jason and Martha A. Lewis. He was the eldest son.

Jason accepted Christ at the age of 7 at the Hebrew Baptist Church where his grandfather William Horsley was Pastor. While at Hebrew, Jason and his cousins formed a singing group named “The Gospel Counselors”. Everyone loved to hear him sing with his base voice “Confidential God.” Jason graduated from Central High School in 1970. He enjoyed cooking and could bake the best cakes. He also loved bowling, playing cards, shooting pool and fishing; of all these things he loved fishing the most.

Jason was a loving family man, who loved spending time with his family. He cooked Sunday dinner every week and had his children and grandchildren come over. Jason has always been a meek, humble and giving person. He worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken as the Restaurant Manager for many years. He retired in 2012.

Jason is preceded in death by his mother Martha Lewis, wife Donna P. Lewis, son Jason Jr. and his best friend Gary Cook.

Left to cherish his memory, father Jason (Ella) Lewis, sons Chad (Shawanna) Lewis, and Christopher Lewis, daughters Tonya Holt and Stephanie Lewis, brother Andrew (Barbara) Lewis, sister Stephanie (Walter) Rakes, 17 grandchildren, brother in law James (Barbara) Holt, sisters in law Ruthie (John) Weaver and Marva (Gene) Hardiman, special cousin in law Eleanorene Johnson, adopted sister Nancy Calloway and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

I am so sad to hear of Jason's tragic fishing accident and passing. I had fun bowling with him and Donna. He was the best crappie/bluegill catcher I knew! I will always remember him when I cast my line out into the water. My sincere condolenses go out to his family. Jason was a good man. God bless you Jason. RIP.

Condolence from Sandy Cook on November 30th, -0001 12:00 am

As usual I had told Gary that Friday morning it was too windy to go fishing, and as usual he said "es;Jason & I got this, we'll be fine"es; And in the past they were. One dumb decision cost them their lives. It was fitting they went together. I'll miss Jason calling me Wifey. My love and prayers go out to his family. We must all remember what good buddies they were and how they enjoyed fishing.
