  5. To the Family of Ms. Mable J. Boatwright:
I know that many people thought of her as a bus driver, but Ms. Boatwright was the singlemost influential TEACHER I had in my 44 years of living thus far. She taught me something that you couldn't learn in a classroom, as I was a sixth grade student, and this was the first year of desegregation, I was young and ignorant….. You see she taught me that words hurt- That people, no matter what color, race, nationality, or religion all cry the same tears, bleed the same blood and feel the same pain. She changed my life with this lesson, and in doing so has changed the lives of not only my family, but I hope everyone I have ever told her and I story to. I continue to use this story whenever I hear any kind of derogitory remarks made about another HUMAN. After all OUR race is the HUMAN race first and foremost. I can only imagine the pain that you as her family are feeling… But it's nice to think of her up there looking over not only you all, but all of her "es;STUDENTS"es;!!
    You are in my prayers-

    A Student
