Matthew G. Booker, age 81. Sunrise December 5, 1935 and Sunset October 3, 2017.
Matthew was a Veteran of The U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and retired from Buckeye Steel Casting. Matthew was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.
He was preceded in death by his parents Zack and Ethel Fletcher Booker, siblings Harold, Leonard, Leroy, Dorothy, Robert and Lamon.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Mary Ellen Booker; sons, Gene Ricardo Booker and Paul A. (Darlene) Matthews; daughters, Jennifer M. (Noble) Cooper, Carolyn Y. Pierce, Lela M. (Willie) Johnson, Wetona A. (Richard) Hurd and Arvella K. Booker; brothers, Clarence, Gerald, and Wilbert (Janet) Booker; sister, Bonita Lee; 23 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation 10 am, Funeral 11 am Monday, October 9, 2017 at Bethany Baptist Church, 959 Bulen Ave.
Interment with Military Honors at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
To the Booker family, you have my condolences in your loss. It is truly a blessing to live a long life of 82 years. God blessed Matthew with special mightiness, because Psalm 90:10 says, “The span of our life is 70 years, Or 80 if one is especially strong.”That is a long life but not compared to future blessings of life! By means of God’s Kingdom, he promises that we will live forever, in the near future (Psalm 37:29).
