Shawn L. Good Jr.

Shawn L. Good, Jr. was born on August 29, 1985 in Columbus, Ohio to loving parents Sophia English and Shawn L. Good, Sr. He was presented to the Lord in dedication on December 15, 1985 at Oakley Baptist Church. Shawn went home to rest in God’s bosom on September 12, 2015.

Shawn’s passion was singing and dancing praises to the Lord. From a very young age he shared his spiritual gift of singing with everyone as he could be heard singing throughout the house, in church, the car or wherever the Spirit of the Lord inspired him to minister to others. He belonged to many choral groups, choirs, praise and worship teams, sang backup for various artists, and participated in many activities that promoted the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music. Shawn had the pleasure of singing on the Bobby Jones Gospel Hour on BET. He was also a backup singer for several prestigious gospel artists such as Isaac Simpson and Quan Howell, for whom he wrote a song entitled “Here I Am.”

Shawn was practically “born and raised” at Oakley Baptist Church. He was active in several ministries such as the youth choir, step team, Sunday school, and various other ministries. He was also a member of Higher Ground Abounding Assemblies and most recently held membership with The Gathering Place. Shawn also praised and worshiped the Lord at several other churches throughout the city.

Shawn attended grade school at Liberty Christian School. He graduated from Columbus Alternative High School in 2003. He later attended Wright State University majoring in business and communications.

Shawn was most recently employed with Buckeye Health Plan as a senior customer service representative. He was previously employed with Chase Bank.

Shawn leaves to celebrate his life, his mother, Sophia L. English; his father, Shawn L. Good Sr.; grandmothers, Viola E. Hunt and Carol Good; brothers, Christin Hill, Nate Good, Marcus Good, and Matthew Good; sisters, Janelle Hill and Paulisha Cunningham. Shawn was proceeded in death by his loving grandfather Marcus L. Hunt and uncle, Troy Good. Shawn also leaves to celebrate his life uncles Joey D. English (Chyrell) and John Good; aunt, Timolin Good; and a host of cousins, friends and loved ones in several states.

Shawn left this earth way too young, but God called him to a higher mission – to dance and sing with angels in the heavenly choir. So sing on Shawn! Dance on Shawn! No more trials, tribulations, or sorrows; only sweet peace! You will greatly be missed, but never forgotten because you touched so many lives as only you could.
