HARPER

Pauline Jewett (Bondurant) “Judy” Harper was born February 5, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to Grace (Pinkney) and Thomas Bondurant. Judy was the fourth of 15 children born to this union. As a young woman, she married the love of her life, Louis Harper. Louis called her “Love.” As a result, his entire Harper family continued to call her “Love” during their 59 years of an exceptionally happy marriage. Louis and Love were blessed with two loving children, Diane and Van.
Judy graduated from Columbus Central High School and attended The Ohio State University, majoring in journalism. She remained a devoted and faithful member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. Judy was active as a member of Triedstone’s Hospitality Ministry (over 40 years) and the Covenant Sisters Cancer Support Group.
Judy always had a warm smile, bright and glistening eyes and kind, friendly words to share. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as every member of her family. She engaged in friendly competition with her grandchildren in Scrabble, spades, spoons and tennis, but required them to win fair and square. Judy was a master at working crossword puzzles and liked the Young and the Restless.
Judy has always been very energetic and active. In high school she played basketball. In the early years of marriage she and Louis enjoyed bowling and playing bid wiz. When she retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, she raced go carts, traveled extensively in the United States and the Caribbean; line danced, volunteered, learned to swim and stayed in shape with water aerobics. Additionally, she continued to develop spiritually, for eight years she was actively involved in the Bible Study Fellowship International (BSFI), Columbus Chapter. Judy made the world a brighter, kinder, gentler place for all she encountered.
