Rodney Lamar Woods was born in Ashville, Alabama on September 23, 1955. He was the son of IdaMae Woods and Willie Lee Woods. Rodney was the third eldest of six children. The Lord called Rodney Home on July 23, 2015.

Rodney was a natural born leader. In his late teens, he served as a member of the Columbus City Council. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy. Not only did he touch lives, but he saved lives as well. Rodney was honored by The City of Columbus on Two different occasions for saving men trapped in burning vehicles.

He was an Entrepreneur and a very well-known and respected business man. He was always willing to help, teach, and lend a helping hand. He loved sharing his funny stories and enjoyed giving valuable advice to family and friends. He was fascinated by cars and motorcycles and loved to race them both. He was the President of the Road Runners Motorcycle Club for many years. Rodney was always the life of the party wherever he went and he always made sure those around him enjoyed themselves.

On July 23, 2015 the Lord called Rodney Home. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Tami and family in the comfort of his home. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Ida Mae and Willie Lee Woods, daughter Letisha Brown, son Tony Conyers, and brothers Charles L. Woods and Gary Jerome Woods.

Rodney will continue to be celebrated by his loving wife Tami Lattimore-Woods, children Whitney Lattimore Woods, Mylan Lattimore Woods, Paul Lattimore Woods, Legend Lattimore Woods, Quan Woods, Roderick Woods, Roman Woods, Rodney Woods Jr., Ramel Woods, Rodney McAfee, Lezerick Murphy, John Stewart, Tristan Swanson, Nepria Woods, Ronetta Woods, Iyanna Woods, Summer Savage, Monique Pruitt, and Letasha Brown, his loving sister Benita Hairston, brothers Ray Woods, Jeffery Hairston and Gary W. Woods as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, special niece Sherry Woods, in laws, special sister in law Terri Lattimore, and a host of friends, special friends Chris and George. He was greatly loved and will be missed, but will forever be in our hearts.

Viewing 11:00am -1:00pm and Home Going Service at 1:00pm Friday July 31, 2015 at Maize Manor UMC, 3901 Maize Road, Columbus, Ohio 43224. Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNEAL OME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE 2500 Cleveland Ave.

  4. Dear family…I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Rodney will be missed by family and friends, but he will not be forgotten by our heavenly father. We often wonder can the dead really live again. Jesus’ words found at (John 5:28,29) says there will be a resurrection. This means that Rodney will be given a fresh new start with the prospect of living forever. (Psalms 37:29) I hope this will bring you comfort knowing that you have an opportunity to see him again to share more wonderful times together.
