Sarah was born June 16, 1933 to Cleophus and Lela (Ware) Angel in Wedowee, Alabama. The Angel family migrated to Columbus, Ohio where she met and married Richard Johnson in 1952. They were blessed with two children, Brenda Annette and Richard Douglas.
The Angel family united with Union Grove Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. After marriage, Sarah and Richard became long time members of Grace Missionary Baptist Church where Sarah served with the Missionary Society and as a deaconess.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kappa Gamma Rho, volunteered with the Columbus Metropolitan Area Community Action Organization, (CMACAO), and served the community in the food pantry. Sarah was warm and outgoing, and always had a smile. Her life-long motto was to help somebody, and to be a blessing to others.

Our Prayers are with the Family.Sis. Johnson will surely be missed. May God continue to bless each one of you and strengthen you.

  2. Mr. Richard,
I was very sorry to hear of Miss Sarah's passing.
You and Miss Sarah showed everyone around you the true meaning of friendship and loyalty that last through the years.
The times you picked Mother up from the bus terminal to spend time with her so she wouldn't have to spend hours alone while waiting for her connection, the times you came to support our family in times of bereavment, or the times you just called to check on the family are just some of the ways you shoed you care.
I didn't get the chance to tell Miss Sarah but I'm making sure I tell you that my family loves you.
Mother always referes to you as her brother and sister. She couldn't have chosen better. I pray I can be the kind of friend I have been blessed to see in you.
Your family is in my heart and prayers today and always.
    Teenie
