Amber Anise Latise Hemphill

Amber Anise Latise Hemphill was born on April 10, 1996 in Chicago, Illinois. As a young girl, her favorite thing to do was sing and read. She loved to sing gospel music. Beyoncé and Jodeci were some of her favorite artists. Amber attended Woodward Park Middle School and Beechcroft High School in Columbus, Ohio. Amber’s favorite subjects were English, Computers, and any classes dealing with Internet and Information Technology. If you had a cell phone, computer or tablet problem, you had better believe Amber could fix it. Amber dreamed of one day becoming a contestant on American Idol. In Amber’s spare time, she loved to volunteer by working with the elderly.

On December 3, 2015, Amber accomplished one of her most significant achievements in life when she gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby girl named, Aria DeLynn Hemphill. When Aria (Ari, as she is affectionately known) was born, she had the same gorgeous smile as her mom. Both Amber and Ari could light up a room with their smiles. Amber took her position as a mother seriously. She was devoted to her daughter. When she was not working and spending time with other family members and friends, she was organizing activities and play dates for Ari.

Fun times for Amber consisted of laughing, “talking smack,” debating topics and politics, singing, and making music videos. Amber also enjoyed videotaping her mom whenever she fell asleep at the kitchen table or while hanging out.

Amber leaves behind her devoted mother, Helena DeLynn Heard and her look-alike father Willie Hemphill. Amber also leaves behind two sets of grandparents including Albert and Phyllis Heard and Freddie Mae Hemphill. Amber leaves behind siblings, Saige (Taliyah and Trinity), Donnell (Froggy aka Frog Man), and Aquavlin (Quavy aka Quemo). She also leaves behind siblings Everett, Kristi, Savannah, Payton, and Brandon. Amber adored her aunts and uncles including Rodney (Debra, Tiffany, and Donovan), Valerie (Miles and Max), Avis (Vernado aka Rock, Paige, Stone, Danae, Javon, and Alex), Allison (David and Adonis), Albert (Jen and Christopher), and Lewis. Amber often spent summers in Chicago and she loved her Hemphill family. Amber was very close with her cousin Darnisha, (Will and Nasir) and thought of her as a sister. Amber loved all her cousins deeply and was close with her Godmother, Erikka (David, Diasia, and Dimaria). Amber leaves behind two nieces, a host of cousins, and many devoted friends.

Amber made her transition on September 28, 2019 at 10:13 a.m. Although Amber is no longer physically here, she will continue to live in the thoughts and hearts of all who love her. As you think about Amber’s life, do not pause on what you think she did not get to do. She was all that and “a bag of chips!” Rather, we ask you to think about everything we wish Aria to become. So today and moving forward, Amber would want us all to smile, think of an encouraging word, and remember God’s love and promise in the scripture of Nehemiah 8:10, which says, “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
