Anderson E. Reed was born on April 1, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the only son born to Anderson and Lucille Reed. He was raised by his mother until her death in November 2008.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lucille Reed, his father, Anderson Reed; his sister, Ada Brown; and his brother, Carlos Taylor. Anderson attended Garfield elementary school, Champion Jr. High, and graduated from East High School in 1968. He attended Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in Communications. Anderson developed a relationship with God at an early age. He became a member of one of the oldest black churches in Columbus, Ohio, Shiloh Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. James W. Parrish, Anderson continued his spiritual journey. While under the leadership of both Rev. Dr. C. Dexter Wise and Rev. Dr. Otha Gilyard, Anderson served on the Board of Trustees, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and various other ministries of the church. He was very dedicated and involved in learning about the Lord and he used his communication skills to teach and help others. For many years, Anderson worked for the State of Ohio as an IT Manager in the Ohio Department of Development. However, he had an entrepreneurial spirit that he just could not ignore and he left his job as IT Manager to start his
own business, Anderson Reed Enterprises. Under the umbrella of Anderson Reed Enterprises, he participated in many aspects of business; he was good at networking and sharing information with others for better and healthy living. He also volunteered at various organizations throughout Columbus. Anderson leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters, Annettia Reed-Lettsome
(Gerwyn) of Lynwood , IL ; Andrea Denise Williams (Bobby) of Austin , TX ; Lisa Ann Wade of Atlanta, GA; one niece, Karen Brown, and one nephew,Karlton Brown.
Anderson was very charismatic and had many, many friends. Special friends; William Dodson, Rev. Dr. Willie Battle, Robert Methe, Elayne Macarthy, and neighbors, Hannah and Tate Stewart were especially helpful, loving, and caring during his nearly 2 year illness and hospitalization.
A Memorial Service and Inurnment will take place Saturday, October 3rd – 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens 5600 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio

I enjoyed Anderson, he was a class act. A kind hearted man. Always caring about the other guy. A man with style and a smile. He is finally home with his loved ones. This world will miss his kind spirit.
Anderson Was a good friend of mine, whom I’ve known for 35 yrs. We shared lots of great memories throughout those yrs. That I will never forget. Anderson was A very encouraging,caring,positive friend. Always had respect towards me and my family. Anderson will be missed. Anderson was very close to his mother Lucille who was a very sweet lady. May you both Rest In Peace.
Dear Family,
Anderson and his dear Mother, Lucille, were dear, dear friends. Lucille worked for me for 25 years both at my home and my office in Bexley until she reached the age of 80. Anderson was so devoted to his Mother as she was to him. We continued to stay in touch with Anderson following his Mother’s death. Please accept our sincere sympathy and may your wonderful memories remain in your hearts of both Anderson and Lucille forever.

Please accept my deepest condolences and know that God loves you and can restore your spirits, give you peace, and strengthen you. I will miss Anderson.

I worked with Anderson; we scored together for many seasons at DRC and AIR. What a pleasant, cheerful colleague he was, funny and always the gentleman. I always appreciated his sincerity, his affability, and his willingness to lend a hand. My deepest condolences to the Reed family for the loss of a kind and loving man.
My friend, Anderson, is one of a kind. In high school, I always admired him because he was so intelligent, kind, well groomed and involved. I was kind of shy and a little unsure of myself, but Anderson always encouraged me. Throughout my careers and seasons, Anderson always remained that encouraging fuel. Anderson just loved, gave and served as well as encouraged and open doors. He is still here in all of our hearts and memories and in the blueprints of every act of love he demonstrated. I am praying with and for the family.
Anderson you were always a good friend and knowing both you and your Mother for all those years leaves so many great memories, Thank You for your friendship and say Hi to Lucille for me. Rest In Peace my friend.
Its been many years since I have seen Anderson but I remember him the most when he worked in the Ohio Department of development. But I also heard him in the radio. A class act

To the friends and family Anderson Reed,
My wife and I got to know Anderson during one of the most tumultuous times of his life. His home was struck by a drunk driver’s vehicle around 3:00 AM in May of 2019. The front of the house had been completely ripped off. First responders and emergency crews conjectured that the house would need to be torn down in the near future. The only home Anderson had ever known – the home where he was raised and the home he had lived in for 70 years – was suddenly on the verge of collapse.
We got to know Anderson really well that night. He stayed with us while we watched a construction crew try to stabilize and secure the house. As neighbors and roommates (for the next 24 hours), of course Anderson wanted to get to know us by probing our opinions on religion, politics, and the state of the world. We could tell right away that he was always ready for a deep, complex, philosophical discussion. Talking with Anderson that night, you would never know that anything was wrong. He wasn’t angry; he wasn’t discouraged; he didn’t want anyone to feel bad for him. He hoped, however, that the driver of the vehicle was going to be alright.
Anderson had a truly invincible soul. His zest for life, love, learning, and prayer were unflappable, even when the pillars of his existence were under siege. He was a wonderful friend that left this realm too soon. He will always be present on Saint Clair Avenue, in the Neighborhood (as he called it), and in our hearts.
We’ll forever miss your thoughtful conversation and warm demeanor. Goodbye, friend.
