Andre Bryant Spikes, age 75, was born in Bishop, Virginia on October 2, 1945 to the late Elder Way B. Spikes and Geraldine Spikes. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

Andre moved to Columbus, Ohio with his family at an early age and gave his life to Jesus Christ. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. L.C. Brown.
Andre was taught to play the bass guitar by his father, Elder Way Spikes. He graduated from East High School, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps; receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Private First Class. He then returned to Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University, before moving to Rochester, New York; where he lived, worked for Kodak but retired after many years from General Motors. Andre played bass guitar in Rochester, New York along with his father and The Brown Boys. After returning to Columbus, Ohio; he worked at Anheuser-Busch and then was employed and retired from DSCS. While living in Columbus, he played bass guitar for the Five Star Harmonizers, Capitalaires, Gospel Clouds of Joy and numerous other gospel groups.

Andre is preceded in death by father, Elder Way Bryant Spikes, mother, Geraldine Spikes, brothers, Arnold, Darryl and Wayne Spikes; sisters, Yolonda Dillard, Sheila Spikes-Donelson, Desiree Wooden-Garland, Lynette Thomas, Deborah Spikes-Johnson and Wanda Rash-Pritchett; special nephew, Way (Fatso) Spikes; great nephew, Sydney Javon Berry; and niece, Aletha McKinnie.

Andre leaves to cherish his memories, step-mother; Estelle Rash; wife; Carolyn Spikes; son, Andre,Jr. (Danisha) Spikes, Oakland, California; daughters; Shaunise Lunsford, Kim Spikes, Andrea (Mark) Hampton, Columbus, Ohio, and Adrianna (Levar) Freeman, Prince George County, Maryland; special brother, Roy K. Spikes, Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Yvette Spikes Winston, Columbus, Ohio, Pamela McIntosh, Lygia Dillard, Scarlett Dillard of Detroit, Michigan and Yvonne Wheeler, Columbus, Ohio; special uncle, Harvey Toles, Dayton, Ohio; aunts, Mary Ferguson, Columbus, Ohio, Gertrude (Richard) Taylor, Tazewell, Virginia, Sally Ann Watson, Bluefield, West Virginia, Edith Eaves, Atlanta, Georgia and Patricia (Raymond) Steele, Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Careatha Spikes, Rochester, New York; special nieces, Sheree, Daphne, Jada and Danielle; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 on-the-way; a host of nephews and nieces; special cousin, Kay Bundy and Reginald Eskridge; lifelong friends, Rosco and Jay Almond, Bishop Robert McCaskill, The Brown and Walker family, Edward L. Stewart, Lake Stevens, Washington; special friend, Monette Spikes, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Monday, December 14, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Dayton National Cemetery.
