Mother Anna Jean Jones was born on November 14, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio to Eliza and Golden Jones. Anna Jones went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2018.

She is the mother of five children, and was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Elder Jerry Helms. Mother Ann has been a lifelong member of Rehoboth Temple Church of Christ; she was a member of the Old Rehoboth Church family of 18th Street. Sister Ann Jones received the wonderful gift of the Holy Ghost in 1972 during a revival held by Bishop Lymus Johnson. There are two scriptures which aptly describe Mother Anna Jones. The first is Ecclesiastes 9:10a which reads, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.” Whenever she is given a task, she can certainly be relied upon to get the job done and get it done well. The second scripture which typifies her is Proverbs 17:22, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.”Never at a loss for words, Mother Ann was always been known for her quick wit and humor. She had a ready response for any situation, adding laughter and levity to lighten even the heaviest mood. Mothers favorite scripture is Psalm 27:4, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.” As one of the oldest members of Rehoboth Temple Church, Mother Jones was always a very active and dedicated servant of the Lord. A former member of the Building Fund Committee, served as a lifetime member of the Women’s Council, the Senior Ushers, the Temple Choir, the Majestic Choir, the Wednesday Community Table Food Program since its inception. Her community involvement included faithful member of the Interdenominational Christian Fellowship (ICWF) of Von Thomas Ministries, Inc., where she served as food coordinator of the bi-monthly fellowships. Sister Jones was also a member of the annual Von Thomas & Friends Interdenominational Love Choir. Additionally, she was the former Vice President of the Historic Poindexter Village Council. In 1995 Anna was presented the Outstanding Service Award at Rehoboth Temple Church, and as recently as April of 2017, Mother Anna J Jones was honored as the recipient of The Annual Helen Spencer Award. Anna J Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Eliza and Golden Jones; six brothers, and three sisters, as well as her eldest daughter Jerry J Helms. She has left to cherish her memory, her sister, Mrs. Bernice Bugg; son, Milton (Petey) Seward; daughter, Karen Jones; twins, James Jones and Kimberly Byrd; grandchildren, Geoffrey, Kelli, Kevin, Mark, Alexandria, James Fredrick, Cameron, Madison, Scotty, Jason Harris, Monte, Milton Jr, Catherine, Isaiah, Lynwana, and Tywana. She was also blessed with a host of great and great – great grandchildren. There are many cousins and friends she leaves behind to mourn her passing. Personifying Psalm 91:16, God has shown Himself strong on Mother Jones’ behalf, allowing her to enjoy 93 years of good health and strength. As He promised David, “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation; God continues to uphold her with the right hand of His righteousness. The family would to give a special thanks to Kobacker House for their excellent care and comfort of our Dear Mother.
