On July 5, 2018 Anna Mae Chatman “Momma” departed her Godly life and went to her Heavenly home. She was 83 years old.

Anna Mae Chatman was born in Huntington, WV. where she attended Douglass High School. She was one of five children born to Elmer and Madge Morton. Brother William (Penny) Morton, brother James C. (Zelma) Morton, brother Robert Morton, sister Martha (Terry) Woods. She was a loving mother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend with a loving spirit.

Anna moved to Columbus, Ohio where she was a homemaker taking care of her children, she enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to her gospel music, and praising the Lord.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Madge Taylor, two sons Lamont Smith, Jesse Smith, and daughter Margo Smith.

She leaves to mourn her death and cherish her memory; her loving children Melvin Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Yvonne Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Quinton Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Renatta (Stephen) Chatman Wright of Lima, Ohio, Paula Chatman of Columbus, Ohio, Meashawn Chatman of Columbus, Ohio, special family members Jesse Smith Sr., and Wade Chatman, special brother Arnette Brogdon, also a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of friends,

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00 noon Friday July 13, 2018 at Mt. Vernon AME Church 1127 Mt. Vernon Ave.

Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.

  5. I had the pleasure of knowong Anna Mae and the family a lot of years. She was well respected by all and loved. I unfortunately was not able to pay my last respects in person due to a prior obligation. She always had time to talk,listen,and offer advice pn request. She will be missed greatly. I looked ar her as the closest thing to family. To the family,you have my deepest sympathy. The world is a much better place with her in it. Rest in Heaven Anna Mae. Gone but never forgotten. Love you always-!!
