Arther Haynes transitioned to our heavenly Father, Tuesday October 5, 2021. He was the third child born on July 31, 1947 to the late Willie and Daisy (Ballard) Haynes, Sr. in Rich, Mississippi.

Arther was a United States Army veteran who served honorably as a SP4 Sergeant and rose to the rank of E6 who worked in transportation during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He received the Army Service ribbon,National Defense Service Medal w/Bronze Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal 3rd OL and various other medals and achievements. Arther worked as a Lead Press Operator at Westinghouse for 25 years. He also was a Correctional Officer for many years with the State of Ohio Richland Correctional Institute. Arther was an avid traveler, enjoyed cooking, fishing and family outings.

Arther is survived by his loving son, Cortney Haynes; brothers, Willie (Bernice) Haynes, Jr., Charlie Haynes and Eddie (Diane) Haynes. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Arther was preceded in death by brother, Denesty “Dennis” Haynes and sister, Daisy Haynes.

Funeral services are as follows: Visitation 10:00 AM and Service 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 14 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE MANSFIELD, 753 McPherson St., 44903. Interment at Mansfield Cemetery.

Arther you were more like a Big Brother than a cousin. You graciously and lovingly extended a warm welcome into your home and made me and others feel extremely special.

    Arther was our bike trail friend. We will greatly miss his warm, friendly smile and kind words. We are not surprised to read in his obituary about his life of service and his love of family and humanity. We hope to honor Arther’s legacy of unity and love by modeling the same in our interactions with others. May you rest in peace dear friend.
