Arthur Sowell

SowellArthur 2

Arthur Lee Sowell was born May 12, 1953 and departed this life September 10, 2020, after an unexpected illness.

Arthur was born to the late Joseph H. and Katherine Sowell. “Lee” as everyone affectionately called him, attended the Columbus Public Schools. Lee previously worked for OSU; and was a supervisor with The University Inn until illness took over.

Lee loved to skate, dance, and watch football. He has a laughter and a smile that could brighten up any room. Lee accepted Christ at an early age. He will always be known to me as my “Ashford” (a laugh between he and I) for his fine, long, back in the day jheri-curls.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H. and Katherine Sowell; brothers, Warren, Lawrence, and Ralph Scott.

Arthur leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Octavia Bursey, Tiwana Horton, and Eunice Spencer; sisters, Patricia White, Lois and Phyllis Sowell; brothers, John Scott, Joseph H. III (Deborah), Louie (Pamela), and Alfred (Cheryl) Sowell; grandchildren, Robert Price, Tavion Dockery, Amari, Antonio and Amonie Horton; uncle, Richard (Jackie) Sowell; aunt, Brenda Sowell; long time close friend, Kim Wray; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Private Services entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
