Banisha McGhee was born on August 23, 1977 in Columbus, Ohio to Jerome M. McGhee Sr. and Alfreda Renee Harper-McGhee. She received formal education within the Columbus City Schools System and attended Linden McKinley High School in Columbus, Ohio. Banisha started a business called Jar Junkies Ice Cream Desserts & Drinks and was pursuing education and training for a career in construction.

Banisha could light up a room with her presence, sense of humor and laughter. She enjoyed beautiful fashion, shoes, accessories, hairstyling, cooking, and having fun. Her children remember her as a giving, funny, strong and stubborn mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Her mother says Banisha gave the best hugs in the world. She will be remembered for her tight, warm embrace.

Banisha was a generous, witty and dedicated woman who loved to feed people and was an excellent cook. She was passionate about her grandchildren and extended herself to family and friends, including caring for children, ensuring they made it to and from school and ate well. She also engaged in providing Sunday School lessons for children at Christ Ministries Therapeutic Community Church.

To her daughters, God bless you all. You’re mom was a ball of energy, so much laughter, and a beautiful heart. She was a G, 10 toes down. She was defiantly one of the few real, rare ones out here. I will miss you, truly.
