Barbara Jean Jackson made her transition to glory, peacefully at home on Sunday, August 23rd.
Barbara Jean was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 21, 1935, to Andrew and Ruth Pearson who preceded her in death.

Barbara Jean grew up in the historic “Flytown” section of Columbus and attended Columbus Public Schools. On June 27, 1954 she married the love of her life, Montrose Jackson. This year they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Barbara Jean was a diligent and dedicated employee of: The Ohio State University, White Cross Hospital (now known as Riverside Hospital), The R.G. Barry Corporation, Rockwell International and T.S. Trim Industries where she retired in 2000.

Barbara Jean was a faithful member of Kingdom Power Baptist Church, where she was often called upon to share in her amazing culinary skills, which she enjoyed doing. She loved her church family very much. She loved the Lord and hearing Pastor Respress preach God’s word.

Barbara she was affectionately known to her family as Mom, Grandma, Granny and Aunt Barbara Jean. She was the beloved aunt who was always about the “good and the right” and she did not hesitate to let you know it, as we all know very well; she would tell you straight and true cause she loved you! She loved all the children in the family and rejoiced in seeing her family make positive accomplishments in their lives. What Barbara Jean loved most was cooking for her family. On any given day that you may visit her she was sitting in the kitchen having prepared a meal, baked a cake or any number of culinary delights…she was truly an artist in the kitchen, a chef in her own right. She especially loved “her babies”, the grand and great-grandchildren; she helped to raise them all. Her home was where they all came after they got out of school where she had a hot meal ready for them to enjoy as well as sweet treats. Barbara Jean loved shopping (especially for the kids) and had a style and grace all her own; no matter where she was going, she believed in dressing well.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband, Montrose Jackson; sister, Lillian McCoy; brother, Nathaniel Pearson; sister in law and lifelong friend, Beulah Granger; sons, Paul and David Jackson; daughter, Kim Robinson; grandchildren, Tiana (Kevin) Boozer, Kelly (Terrell) Howell, and David (Joi) Griffin; great-grandchildren, Tanae Fisher, Kennedi Fisher, Kyree Fisher, Tori Howell, Taylee Howell, Taylor Griffin and Taylen Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Private Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Kingdom Power Baptist Church, 1673 Lockbourne Road.

Interment at Union Cemetery Association.

Masks, Tickets and Social Distancing are required.

To the Pearson and the Jackson family my heart goes out to you at the loss of cousin Barbara Jean Pearson Jackson! She will be missed at the reunions and at family events, but I know that pales next to how your family will miss her at the dinner table and when those babies get out of school every day! Know that your family members are layering prayers across the country to hold you up tomorrow and we know that God will strengthen you in the days ahead!
