Beatrice Christine Lewis passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born June 29, 1934 in Maxey’s, Georgia. As the youngest of four children, to the late Rev. McKinley and Rosa Lee (Robinson) Stephens.

Beatrice moved to Mansfield, Ohio as a young teenager and shortly after began touring in the Southern Gospel Circuit and sang with the best; including The Supreme Angels, The Brown Singers, and Ike and Tina Turner. She always loved the Lord and has been a long time member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

As a preacher’s kid Beatrice loved singing in the church choir in which she made a favorable decision for her father to decline touring with Ike and Tina Turner and share her gift of music for the Lord. She was a loving, devoted, caring mother, and a friend to many. She loved to cook meals from scratch, playing Bingo, shopping, and traveling at the drop of a hat, with her suitcase always packed. You could always see the pride and love she gave through her COLGATE smile for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. McKinley and Rosa Lee (Robinson) Stephens; daughter, Consuello Lewis; sister, Jamie (Claude) Hurt; two brothers, Williams Stephens and Alfred (Sara) Stephens; one great grandson; and a very special friend, Nelta Jackson.

Beatrice leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, two sons, Willie (Debbie) Lewis, Jr. of Mansfield, Ohio and Charles (Sharon) Lewis of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Christine Lewis of Mansfield, Ohio and Francine Lewis of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren, Rosetta L. Lewis, Steve Dews, Jr., Summer N. Brighthill, Courtney Lewis, Terrence C. Johnson, and La’Terrica Johnson; eight great grandchildren; a very special sister-in-law, Evelyn Stephens; a host of nieces and nephews; special daughters, Loretta D. Nicholson and Susan L. Brown; special niece, Marie Davis; two special sons, Mark A. Tufts and Terry Johnson; and many friends.

Visitation 1-3:00pm Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Harmonia Baptist Cemetery in Maxeys, GA.

Christine, Francine and the rest of the family..it is with shock that I write this message of love to you. It has certainly brought me back to Orchard Street when you guys were very young and me and Velma would sit and listen to Bea tell her stories and we would have so much fun. It’s been ages but the memories are fresh. Thank you for taking me back-such beautiful pictures of an equally beautiful lady. Looking with hope where there will be no pain, sorrow or death and Bea will be her beautiful young self again. Revelation 21:4… love you much
Malinda
