Bennie Lee Parham was the youngest of 8 children born to the late John Jasper and Beulah Bell (Young) Parham. He was born on November 15, 1944 in Petersburg, Virginia and passed away on Wednesday May 13th in Columbus, Ohio.
Bennie worked at Virginia Linen for over 30 years before his retirement. He was also a deacon at the Greater Faith Apostolic Temple in Virginia for over 20 years before moving to Ohio to be closer to his children due to declining health.
Bennie’s favorite pastime was collecting baseball hats from around the globe. Bennie’s favorite Bible verse was Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Washington) Parham; six siblings, William, Roosevelt, Thomas, Julia, Addie, and Mary.
Bennie is survived by his children, Brenda (Derrick) Boyd, and Olivia Boswell; and stepchildren, Carolyn and James Washington of Columbus, Ohio; younger sister, Virginia (Roderick) Warren of Petersburg, VA; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, May 22, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
