Bettie L. Jenkins (Bonner-Edwards) age 75. Born on October 22, 1943 in Bessemer, AL. Passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019.

Graduate of East High School Class of 1960. Bettie retired from Columbus City Schools after 30 plus years. She was a faithful member of the St. James Biblical Christian Baptist Church for 44 years where she served as a Deaconess, Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, Co-Chair of the Church Pledge Committee, President over the Willing Workers and whatever God assigned to her heart and hands to do. She was active in her Community and served as a secretary for the Argyle Park Civic Association.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Joseph H Jenkins, Sr. Parents,
Hiram and Gladys Woods. Sister, Vivian Edwards and son in law, Paul Chapman, I.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Joseph H (Delicia) Jenkins, Jr, Sheila L. Jenkins and Angela Chapman, Grandchildren: Paul D Chapman, lI, Ayanna Jenkins and Aliya Jenkins. Great grandchildren: Yisrael
Chapman and Ariana Chapman. Siblings: Lavisse (Maureen) Slade-Smith, Hiram Woods Jr., Sabrina Askew,
Cynthia Woods and a host of brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, Church Family and special
friend Mrs. Retta Rhea.

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday, September 28, 2019 at St. James Baptist Church, 1311 E. Hudson Street.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.

    Our beloved neighbor, Bettie Jenkins received her wings. She was a faithful Secretary of the Argyle Park Civic Association for many years. She was also President of the Duxberry Elementary School PTA. We will miss her dearly and express our heartfelt condolences to the family as we celebrate her homegoing together.
