Bettie P. Wade

wade

Bettie P. Wade was born on September 13, 1945 in Selma, Alabama. She was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021. Bettie was a faithful and devoted Christian. She accepted Christ at an early age at Sandridge Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama, where she served as an usher. She is preceded in death by her husband Wesley Wade, her parents James and Ola Polnitz and her beloved sister Corrie Baker.

Bettie’s life began, after she graduated from high school, moved to Columbus, Ohio and met and married the love of her life Wesley Wade. Out of this union two sons were born Kevin and Ken Dra’ Wade.

Bettie attended culinary school and received her certificate. She later started working for Western Electric and worked there for 9 ½ years until she was laid off. She then became employed with the Columbus School Board at Walnut Ridge High School. She was a dedicated and devoted employee and was loved by all. Betty retired in 2012. After retirement Bettie enjoyed gardening, taking care of her house plants and listening to her favorite group Frankie Beverly & Maze. Whenever she would hear her favorite song she would jump up with one finger in the air – doing her favorite dance! She also enjoyed going to the casino and attending family gatherings.

Bettie had a special love for her family and thoroughly enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Mommie, Maw Maw, Aunt Betty, and Pork-chop. She will be forever remembered as a dedicated mother, grandmother, aunt and a devoted friend. She touched many lives and will be sadly missed.

Bettie P. Wade leaves to cherish her memories her sons Kevin and Ken Dra’ Wade, her five brothers; Walter (Doris), James (Bernice), Wendell, Theo (Cheryln), and Edmond Polnitz; Two sisters Emma (Johnny) Welch and Mildred (Ronald) Baker; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sister-in-law; Gwen White; brother in-laws; Morris and Wayman (Brenda) Wade; special nieces; Sharon Sims, Karen Burnett, Sherylene Davis, Jacqueline White and Monica Wade; devoted and loving friends Geri and Ann, special caregiver Roxie, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
