Betty J. Agnew, age 87. Sunrise June 28, 1931 and Sunset January 15, 2019.
Betty Jean Sullivan Agnew went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 15, 2019 after a courageous eleven month battle with cancer. Betty was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi on June 28, 1931, one of eight children to the late Mr. Jessie and Mrs. Georgia Sullivan.

Betty was raised and educated in Mississippi. She met and married Bernice Agnew and from this union was born two sons, Bernie and Robin Agnew and one daughter, Betty Ann Agnew. Her husband Bernice was a member of the Air Force and the family traveled extensively to Morocco, South Africa, Germany and many other countries. The Agnew’s settled in Columbus, Ohio, were Bernice was stationed at Lockbourne AFB (now known as Rickenbacker). Betty remained in the same home for over forty-eight years.

Betty retired from Children’s Hospital following seventeen years of service in the dietary Department. If you knew Betty, you would not forget her beautiful blue eyes. She was a quiet spirit who loved her family, her home, spiritual music, soft jazz, and was an excellent cook. Betty’s family wanted to share that she was loving, kind, generous, and had a keen sense of humor. She had a wealth of wisdom when it came to her knowledge of historical and current events. Betty was an avid reader, especially of her Bible, until her eyesight was hindered by glaucoma.

Betty was a faithful member of Hosack Street Baptist Church for over 25 years. Her life was enriched by her love for God, her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

Betty is predeceased by her parents; one son, Bernie Agnew; two grandsons, Robert Agnew and Abraham Isaac Cundiff; four sisters and one brother. She is survived by daughter Betty Cundiff of Arizona; son, Robin Agnew of the Philippines; sisters Louise Brown of Detroit, Michigan, and Edwina (Albert) Grice of Baldwyn, Mississippi; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, relatives, and lifelong friends; and her cat CoJo.

Betty will be dearly missed by all who were blessed by her presence. Betty’s prayer for each one is that our souls will be saved so we can meet in heaven.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Friday, January 25, 2019 at Hosack Baptist Church 1160 Watkins Road, 43207.

Interment Glen Rest Memorial Gardens.

I’m sending my sincere condolences to the Agnew family and friends. This is one of life’s greatest challenges that we have to face. Jesus said, did, and promised something that gives us comfort and hope. In the Bible at John 11:11-14, Jesus likened death to sleep. This comfort us in two ways: 1) we are assured by those words that our loved ones are not suffering or in pain. 2) If a person is just sleeping, he will wake up! Notice what Jesus does next at John 11: 43-44, this is amazing! If you would like to know more details about this, please download a free copy of the brochure Good News from God @ Jw.org and read lesson 6 along with the Bible.

Condolence from Beverly Bush Swett on January 26th, 2019 8:54 pm

Ann and Robin, I regret I couldn’t be with you to celebrate Aunt Betty Jean’s home going. In her quietness she always showed love for her family. Her pleasant smile always greeted us during your family’s visits to Jackson, TN. I know the loss of having an anchor of the family pass away is difficult. And I thank God for allowing us to have cherished memories and the love of family to help ease the pain. Those wonderful memories will come to mind when you least expect them; embrace them for they will help you make it through the difficult days ahead. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Beverly Bush Swett
