Beverly Anne Coleman, fondly known as Bell, Mom, Daughter, Nana, Aunt Bev, B’Anne is the 1st child born to her mother Dorothy E. Smith and late father Robert R. Smith in the year of our Lord 1953. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Coleman; her grandson Robert S. Coleman; her father Robert R. Smith; her grandparents Rufus Smith, Roberta J. Smith, Hattie Mae Davis, Carl S. Davis, and special cousin Shelby J. Smith.

Shortly after her birth in Freeman, West Virginia, young Beverly moved with her parents to Columbus, Ohio. As a child, she loved playing piano and was active at Mount Calvary Holy Church as an usher and member of the junior choir. She went on to serve as a trustee until the mid 2000’s, later joining New Birth Christian Ministries. Beverly graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1971. During her years there she was the assistant head majorette, library assistant, counselor office assistant, and part of Block- L, Y-Teens, C.O.E., Sr. Executive Council and the homecoming court. After a couple years of community college, Bev worked many for Sears Credit, and ultimately retired from Express Scripts (formerly National Rx & Medco Health Solutions) as a Manager Supervisor.

The most unique quality about her was her eye for details and pursuit of excellence. Beverly mastered the art of decorating, especially during the holidays. She made THE BEST desserts and could present them in the most beautiful way. She invented the phrase “Too pretty to eat”. From her love of baking and gift-giving, B’Anne & Company was formed.

She was sharp, kind, creative and no nonsense. Truly one of the best kinds of people to consider a friend.

She will be forever cherished as a loving devoted wife and mother to her late husband of 46 years, Charles Coleman, son Scott A. Coleman (Donata), daughter; Shala M. Dalton (David), grandchildren; Kenny, Jordan, Ashlynn and Dorian, brothers; Valance L. Smith ( JoAnn), Robert B. Smith (Monica), aunts; Shirley A. Coleman, Blanche B. Smith, Roberta J. Jackson (Lowell), Uncle William K. Smith, Ronald Smith (Becky), as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Condolences for the family of “Beverly Anne Coleman”

Condolence from Deborah (Melvin) Hunter on May 31st, 2022 7:47 pm

To the Dalton & Smith Family, I just cannot believe that my sister from another mother is gone. It just does not seem real. I loved her dearly and will miss her beautiful smile and her calming voice. Together we were a force to be reckon with at our last encounter, that we serviced together. She was strong & mighty and with a soft voice, you knew she meant business. She was beautiful and it showed with everything she touched. A decorator and baker like no other. I love my Bevy, but I know she is in no pain, no more suffering, she is in a better place with the father, C.A. And her family gone before her. No more crying, no sadness but all joy. I love you much and the beautiful memories you left behind. I will treasure them all. Rest on my beautiful and awesome friend.
