James Harold Jones was born April 6,1940 to John and Bertha Jones in Lynchburg, VA. He peacefully departed this life on September 16, 2021 at the home he shared with his wife, Margaret Hines Jones.
Among work at previous jobs, James retired from the insurance industry where he rose to such heights that he received many awards; and was gifted with trips in honor of the work he performed. James had various hobbies: reading, mentoring, traveling, sewing and upholstery work. The latter he turned into a thriving upholstering business which he operated for several years. Along with his love and devotion to God and family, James will be remembered for his fondness of fashion. Through it, he became known as a snazzy dresser. He was often seen in suits, exquisite ties, and Stacey Adams shoes; being blessed to wear them well.
He had an unshakable love of the Lord God; demonstrated by his faith and service unto Him. In 1979, James was baptized in Jesus’ name under the pastorate of Minister Bertha Wright. He spent 15+ years assisting in the building up of churches while participating in and forming numerous ministries. The Lord God called him to his own ministry in 2003; at the Church of the Living Faith and Action Ministry, where he participated in pastoral functions until 2009. Following his rise to Bishop, James assisted in the preparation of his wife, Margaret, to step into God’s anointing on her life. She became an ordained minister. Together, they lived out their faith, serving the Lord. James worked beside with his wife until he departed this world; supporting God’s calling on her life.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Jones; siblings, Bernice Jones, Effort Jones, Edward Jones, Ernest Jones, Thomas Jones and Melvin Jones. He leaves to celebrate his memory, his beloved wife of 41 years, Margaret Jones; sibling, John (Zella) Jones of Hampton, VA; children, James H. (Gail) Jones Jr. of Richmond, VA, Shelly J. (Wilbur) Anderson of Roanoke, VA, Mia S. (Johnathan) Beckett of Ft Washington, MD and Kimberly S. (Willie) Davis of Roanoke, VA; Bonus children: King Dada, Reginald Shelley ,Laron Shelley, Tosha Bradley eleven beloved grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other dear relatives and loving friends.
Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, September 24, 2021 at Shiloh Christian Center, 787 E. Broad St. Interment Glen Rest Cemetery.
