Brian Keith Mitchell was born May 7, 1963 to Winifred (Donette) Mitchell-Jackson and Jacob Long. He departed this life December 10, 2022, after suffering a very brief illness.

Brian attended Columbus public schools, proudly graduating from East High School, class of 1981. During his high school years, Brian made several lasting friendships that remained in place even today.

In the early years, Brian attended Sunday School at Hebrew Missionary Baptist Church with his aunt and sisters. Brian was currently employed with T Force Freight but recently retired from UPS. Some of Brian’s favorite hobbies included watching his Brown’s and Michigan Wolverines play, grilling and fishing. On a recent vacation, Brian won the coveted “First Fishy” award.

Brian committed many years of being a great and caring father to his children, while also sharing all his love with his 7 grandchildren.

Brian is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Donette, grandparents Henry and Winfred Mitchell, Sr., uncle, Henry Mitchell, Jr., {Junnie) and cousin NeCia Mitchell.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving companion, Lori Czigans, her parents Ron and Jaci (Momma J) Prowant, Best Buddy Hines, father, Jacob Long; sisters, Joan Mitchell, Lela Jackson, Alisia Long, brother Darryl Long; son & daughter in law Johnathan & Heather Flowers, Daughter, Dominique Flowers; God children Steven Carr and Sierra Robertson. Grandchildren, La’Nae Flowers, Ja’Lana Flowers, Jay’ceon Flowers, Lexington Flowers, Jaylin Flowers, Aviauna Flowers & Novalae Flowers. Nieces, LaTonia Mitchell, Trinity Mitchell & Diamond Long; nephews, Antjuan Mitchell, Brian Jackson-Mitchell & Ivan Brown, Jr.; great nieces and nephews, Julius, Glenn, Mya, Paris, King, Kingston & Brandon; Aunts and uncle, Gail Mitchell, Serena and Chris Henderson. Best buds, Clifford Piper, Rodney Davis, TaWanda (Ann), Melody & Michael Carr of Akron, Ohio. Brian’s life was also full of cousins and friends, to numerous to list.

Visitation 1:00 PM and Funeral Service 2:00 PM Thursday, December 15, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).

  9. I met “Mitch” through one of his best buddies, Reggie Davis. I used to call him “Mitchell”, to mess with him! Unknown to me, that was his last name! He always reciprocated the greeting calling me “McGee”! He didn’t know i didn’t know “Mitchell” was his surname, but I do now and am glad to know him! He is a precious guy who didn’t get bad or mad at anyone! That’s how I remember him, and gladly so!
