Bruce Frederick Williams, 66, passed away April 9, 2018 at Springfield Regional Hospital.

Bruce was born January 30, 1952 in Springfield, OH to the late Otis Williams (Big Otis) and Bertha L. (Morgan) Williams.

Bruce worked at Honda of America until his retirement in 2009 with 20 years of service.  Upon his retirement Bruce got involved with “Peacekeepers Globe Initiative” based out of Columbus, OH.  Bruce went on to establish and promote a Peacekeeper Chapter here in Springfield.  Bruce enjoyed and took his obligation of being a Peacekeeper very seriously.   He wore his Peacekeepers attire daily and with much pride.  The Springfield Peacekeepers Chapter helped with many schools, churches and other community events throughout the city to insure safe and peaceful events.

Bruce loved this city and regularly attended the Police Community Review Advisory Group, School Board, and City Commissioners Meetings.  Bruce voiced his opinion at these meetings when he felt necessary until his health prevented him from attending.

Bruce is survived by his Mother; Bertha L. Williams, Wife; Sharon Peterson-Williams, Son; Tony (Missy) Williams, Grandchildren; Makenzie and Izaiah Williams.  Sisters; Glenda Williams-Jones of Winter Haven, FL., Harriett (Michael) Davis, and Lisa Yates both of Springfield.  Brothers; Otis (Carlyn) Williams and Tony Threats both of Springfield; John Williams of Knoxville, TN.  A host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Godson; Michael Robinson.  Uncles; Jimmy (Ann) Morgan of Texas and Richard (Juliana) Myers of NY, NY. Bruce was preceded in death by his Father; Otis Williams and Sister; Carolyn Threats-Upshaw.

Special thanks to Michael Goodwin, Larry Lash, Tony Clay, Ernie Wynn and Al Howard. The unique friendships you shared with Bruce has stood the test of time.  And all your acts of kindness and support shown to me are greatly appreciated.  The Williams Family of Cairo, GA., thank you for your calls and love.

With heartfelt love and thanks to Pastor Peggy E .G. Turner, Pastor Dwight Smith and the Trinity Church Family.

Bruce’s “Present for Peace” will be greatly missed.
