Carlyn Toneida (Toni) Alverson affectionately known as “Nana” was born on September 12, 1952, in Chillicothe, Ohio to Walter Leo and Lois Bernice Seward. She peacefully departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Grant Medical Center surrounded by love. Nana was the Matriarch of the family that she cared for so deeply.

Nana graduated from Central High School in 1970. In 1974, She began her career at Huntington Bankshares Incorporated where she remained a very dedicated employee for 34 years. While at Huntington, she held various positions. She retired from Huntington as a Telecommunications Specialist in 2008.

One of Nana’s greatest joys was caring for her family. She always put their needs before her own. She provided a roof over their heads, food in their bellies,0020 and a laugh or two to go with it. She enjoyed reading books, watching shows like Judge Judy, The Andy Griffith Show, Cooking Channels and many others. She will forever be cherished by her entire family.

She is preceded in death by her father Walter Leo Seward, and her sister Patti Cowans.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Lois B. Seward; uncle, Bernard Hammond; sisters, Sharon, Cindy and Merry Seward; brother, Walter (Mary) Seward; her children, Tira Alverson and Joseph (Rita) Alverson; her grandchildren, Brandi Alverson, Amber (Keith) Teacher, Ceaira Alverson, Joseph Alverson III, Jason Thrweatt; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Private Visitation 1:00 PM and Private Memorial Service 2:00 PM Friday, November 5, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd). Mask, Social Distancing and Memorial Tickets required.
