Cennie L. Kimber transition to Heaven on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022, at her home in Columbus, Ohio. Cennie is the eldest child and daughter to Corse and Elizabeth Bivens. She was born on October 2, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio.

Cennie’s unique name came from her father’s sister. When Cennie would explain the pronunciation of her name, she would point to her eye and say “see” then she would point to her knee and say “knee”. That was one of the remarkable unforgettable characteristics of her personality. She is a graduate of South High School and Bliss College.

Cennie was a long-time employee of The Ohio State Liquor Store in Northern Lights Shopping Center until their closure. Cennie had a great love for people and continued her working career with Sunrise of Worthington Assisted Living Facility where she was able to utilize her love for caring for the elderly. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Cennie married Robert L. Kimber. They were later stationed in El Paso, Texas while he served in the Air Force and to their union their daughter Traci was born. Cennie was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was the biggest cheerleader for family and friends at sporting events, graduations, plays and cookouts. Cennie was always entertaining and would often break out and dance in a heartbeat. Cennie was a faithful member of High Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed riding the church bus and fellowshipping with her church family. She would attend church online when she was unable to attend in person. She had also become an avid user of Facebook where she kept up with all the family’s activities.

Cennie is preceded in death by her parents, Corse and Elizabeth Bivens; son Troy Kimber; granddaughter, Teniqua Kimber; brother, Clarence (Buddy) Bivens; and sister, Vicki Scott. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Traci Kimber; grandson, Antwan Kimber; granddaughter, Marshay Kimber; three great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Zion, and Chance Moorer; brother, Dannie Bivens; sisters, Toni Snow and Sharon Davis; special friends, Annette Barber, Gert Simmons, Marie Hill, Mrs. Norman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special cousin Carol Bolton.

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday, May 21, 2022 at High Street Baptist Church, 7399 N. Hight Street.

Interment at Union Cemetery.
