Champell “Donte” Johnson was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 23, 1972 to Champell and Linda Johnson. At his residence, on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the age of 47, he was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord for eternal rest.

Donte graduated from Mifflin High School in 1990 then enlisted in the army. While in the army, he lived in Germany and visited Amsterdam. Donte was a Dallas Cowboy and The Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He kept himself busy doing DIY projects around his home. He also enjoyed family gatherings.

He is preceded in death by father Champell Johnson, and cousin Jerome Sams.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; life time partner Kimberly Conwell, mother Linda Johnson, sons Champell Donte Johnson Jr., Deiontae Johnson, Malik Johnson, Tavontay Johnson, and Kyheir Johnson, sister Michelle Johnson, neohews Masai Johnson, and Masaivyon Johnson, and niece TiAsia Johnson, also a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Monday, December 9, 2019 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.

I recall memories of “Champ” at Mifflin and Cumberland Ridge. His smile and calm demeanor was the best part of him. I am saddened hearing that he has passed away. I am praying for peace and comfort for the family.
