Condolence from MAGGIE BURNES on July 28th, 2016 1:05 am

Mother, it is so hard to believe that you are gone. I will miss the times we shared together: the calls, the shopping, the meals we shared, the pictures we viewed, the many Delta Founders Day spent together, the many conversations you shared about your family members–you so loved each of them, the celebrations honoring you as a mother and the holidays. You were a classy lady with a big heart. My heart is so heavy, filled with sorrow. I loved you so much, I want you to come back. But I know it is not possible. Rest in the arms of the Lord and Daddy Jack.

Condolence from Emily Shirk on August 15th, 2016 7:46 pm

I am so very sad to hear about my dear friend, Charlene. Even on her “rough” days, her light shined bright. A smile always came to my face when I’d pick up the phone and hear “Hellllooo Emily? This is Charleeene.”

Charlene, I will miss our trips to the grocery store, and learning more about some of the amazing things you did and people you touched in your lifetime. I’m honored to have been a part of your story.

On a lighter note, I called just tonight to see if you’d like some Popeye’s chicken like we had last time, but I guess we’ll have to wait on that.

To your family, church family and sorority family–I’ve never met you, but Charlene talked about each of you so much. It was well known how much you meant to her. I’m so sorry for your loss. Please reach out for anything at all. My email address is attached.

Love you and miss you already, sweet friend.
