Charles Lee Burks, also known as “Big Charlie“ or ”Burks” was born to the late Cynthia Elizabeth and Hugh Lee Burks on April 28, 1947 in Radford, VA. Charles graduated from Marion Franklin High School, Class of 1965, where he played football. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict at the age of 18 yrs old, where he served and was honorably discharged.

Charles was employed by General Castings Steel Mill located in Delaware, Ohio. He retired after 35 years.

Charles enjoyed watching football on Saturdays cheering on Michigan Wolverines, Sunday afternoons cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and “socializing” with friends and family.

Charles was called to rest on Sunday, February 23, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Cynthia and Hugh Burks and only brother Hugh Tyrone Burks.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Juanita Burks, sons Victor and Charles Harvison, Derrick West and daughters Yvette (Larry) Harper, Tiana and Melinda West. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

As he would sometimes playfully, sometimes seriously say “byeeeeee”.
Bye Charles, you will be missed.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

Interment with Military Honors at Eastlawn Cemetery.
