To the Osterman family; May God continue to strengthen you during this difficult time. My personal and professional friendship with Charlotte extends over 40 years as we began our social work careers at Franklin County Children Services. She was a true Christian soldier and an outstanding advocate for families and children. The Angels are rejoicing as her beautiful soul has transitioned onward.

Charlotte was one of the best human beings I have ever known. She cared about everyone and committed herself to serving others. Working with her was a real privilege. I loved her laugh and her unassuming personality. She will be remembered forever by her friends from LSS.

Dear Family,
Please accept our sincere condolences during this difficult time. We only have positive memories of Charlotte and look forward to a wonderful reunion in that great gettin’ morning. Classy, caring, calm, confident, consistent, creative, courageous . . . and, most of all, Christlike. We will miss her.

Condolence from Frank Hundley on June 2nd, 2019 12:44 pm

I live in New Jersey and my son is about to graduate from high school and attend college. I wanted to share with Charlotte that my son is going to college and was stunned to hear that she had passed. This morning I googled Charlotte to check to see if her email had changed and was both shocked and saddened to see that she passed away 22 months ago.

You see Charlotte was our social worker when we adopted our son in 2000. At the time we lived in Columbus and she arranged for us to adopt the love of our lives. She was absolutely wonderful. Obviously we didn’t interact with her as frequently as perhaps we should have (our last exchange was two years before she passed) but we always held a very special place in our hearts. Without her, my son would not be with my wife and me.

I will gladly make a contribution to the fund at Ohio State which was established in her honor.

Although it has been a while since her passing, allow us to extend our belated heartfelt condolences.

Kindly,
Frank Hundley

Condolence from Linda Benson and Family on August 22nd, 2017 9:54 am

Charlotte was a mentor, my adoption worker, a co-worker and a friend. Over the years I have known her, her life was centered on service to others and enriching the lives of those she came into contact with. She was instrumental in bringing hundreds of families together through adoption. Her legacy will live on the hearts of many.
I offer my sincere condolences to the family.

Condolence from Dennis, Janice, and Alaine Whitmire on August 22nd, 2017 10:31 am

Charlotte was our friend, and more than that, she completed our family with the adoption of our daughter in 1990. Through the years we exchanged birthday cards on our birthdays every year, and we were sure to connect periodically regarding the well-being our our daughter. Charlotte always knew that this adoption was straight from God, as she knew they all were. She always gave Him all the glory! We will miss her, and I will miss our exchanges. Thank you, Father, for sending Charlotte Osterman into our lives nearly 40 years ago. What a blessing!
Family, I know you are missing her terribly. Rest assured knowing that she is in the arms of Jesus! Well done, Charlotte”!

Condolence from Rosemary Ebner Pomeroy on August 22nd, 2017 10:39 am

I got to know Charlotte through my work as an adoption attorney, and as an attendee at the Ohio Adoption Planning Group. She was always gracious, filled with good humor and had an amazing knowledge of the social worker’s role in adoption. I was grateful to know her as a professional colleague, and it was a privilege to work with her on important adoption issues.

Condolence from Cora Lee James Maxwell on August 23rd, 2017 10:58 am

My memories of Charlotte go back to our high school years because we were classmates at Mayo High, Darlington, SC during the late sixties. Charlotte was the kindest and classist person I have ever known. During our senior year we were part-time admin assistants to my favorite teacher, Mr. Alsbrooks, the bus driver’s superintendent. Charlotte and I became good friends as we completed our tasks and I learned a lot from her when it came to being very thorough and accurate in all I do.
Although it has been many years since we have been in contact with each other she left an indelible, and beautiful impression on me and I will always remember her magnificent smile. My sincere condolences go out to all of her
family and friends. May God bless and keep you all.

Condolence from Vickie Nicolaus on August 23rd, 2017 8:30 pm

My heart is touched by all the many kind words spoken by those who knew our dear sister. Even More so that that she allowed God to use her through out her sojourn in this land. I found in Charlotte, a sweet woman of God. I look forward to meeting her around the throne of God. To the family and friends, let us continue to fight the good fight of faith and let us not be weary in well doing, for we shall reap, if we faint not. Please be encouraged and let us be faithful. He that shall come, will come, and will not tarry. For this is the blessed hope. Much love & comfort to the family.
God bless you all.
