Christine Jo DeLaurentis

DeLaurentisChristine

Christine Jo DeLaurentis, age 63, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, was born December 23, 1954 in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

Christine moved with her family to Mt. Vernon, Ohio in 1969 and was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. A gifted artist, Christine graduated from Bridgeport University in Bridgeport, Connecticut with a degree in fine arts, and subsequently used her skills in illustration, design and frame work.

After college, Christine moved to Colorado and found her passion in the outdoor life. She was a skilled outdoorswoman, and worked as a whitewater rafting guide in Vail. She also enjoyed skiing, hiking, horseback riding, and camping. In Colorado she owned her own frame shop. She was a fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Many OSU fans own beautiful Buckeye necklaces, earrings, and bracelets created and sold by Christine and her family. She was a good cook and loved to prepare traditional Italian foods such as lasagna and pizzele cookies.

After living in Colorado and California for several years, Christine returned to central Ohio to be closer to her parents, and worked as a home caregiver. She was devoted to her clients and made many friends in the care giving circles. Even after she became ill and went to live in a skilled nursing facility, she continued to advocate for and watch over her fellow residents.

Christine loved to be out, abut, and busy and involved in life. She volunteered for Comfest, ran errands for shut-ins, and many other activities. As a young woman, she worked at Camp Wagon Road in New York.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents Carmen Charles DeLaurentis, and Sara Lucy DeLaurentis.

She leaves to cherish her memory; four beautiful children Joey (Joelle) Kapala, and Sarah (Wayne) Oakland, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Michael (Janelle) Mancilla, and Madison (Joseph) Stanley of Columbus, Ohio, along with grandchildren Kyzer Mancilla, Karmen Stanley, and Jackson Kapala, siblings Barbara Wade, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Eileen (Dave) Coulter, of Plymouth, Ohio, John (Brenda) DeLaurentis, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Peter (Karin) DeLaurentis, and James (Megan) DeLaurentis of Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth DeLaurentis of Winter Park, Florida, Kathryn DeLaurentis of Silver Spring, Maryland, Michael (Maggie) DeLaurentis of Seattle, Washington, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

  2. My condolences to the family on the loss of Christine (Chris) Delaurentis. My hearts are with you. <3

  3. Every now and then I take a minute to look for Chris. We went to college together in Bridgeport. I was sitting at my desk at work thinking about the Christmas I spent in Ohio with the Delaurentis Family. I was so unbelievably sad to see her obituary. I wish I had worked harder to keep in touch. My heart is full of sadness for the loss of such a talented and sweet person. I hope she had the great life that she deserved.
