Chrystal Renee Henley

Chrystal Renee (Mitchell) Henley born on May 3, 1954 and went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2020. She was born in Columbus, Ohio to Lorene Johnson and Magnus Lewis. Chrystal was a graduate of West High School and participated in The CITA Program which led to her employment at Borden Inc. here in Columbus. After many years, she gained employment with Columbus Public Schools as a secretary. Chrystal united in marriage to Willie Henley in 2008.

Chrystal was a member of Stewart Memorial CME Church since childhood where she was a member of CYF. As a youth. She left the church and later returned rededicating her life to Christ. Chrystal was the Treasurer of the Stewardess Board, Secretary of the Missionary Society, a member of the Stewart Choir (Tenor Section), and a member of the Columbus Metro Mass Choir (Tenor Section). She also served on The Kitchen Committee as well as the Harvest Tea Committee. She was a faithful member of the Anti-Hunger homeless ministry.

Chrystal was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Henley; her father, Magnus Lewis; parents, Lorene and Nathaniel Kelley; and stepbrother, Michael Kelley.

Chrystal is survived by her daughters, Carmen Mitchell, Tomeka Howell, and Candace Mitchell; son, Derrick Mitchell; sisters, Andrea Mitchell and Elmira Curry; brother, Rodney Kelley; stepbrothers, Tony and Vincent Kelley; uncles, Fred and Tracy Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Chrystal will be missed by her five grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

PRIVATE Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
