NelmsClaude

Claude was a long-time resident of Columbus, Ohio, who went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2020, at the age of 57. Claude was born on July 9, 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama to father, Willie and mother, Eddie Nelms.

Growing up, Claude enjoyed spending quality time with his brothers, sisters, and cousins. He was always the life of the party and could put a smile on anyone’s face; he always tried to be a peacemaker. He loved to laugh and dance, and always made the best out of every situation. There was not anyone quite like Claude Nelms, he will forever be cherished and deeply missed.

Claude is preceded in death by his father, Willie Nelms; and mother, Eddie Nelms; and brothers, Bryant Nelms and Tony Jackson.

Claude is survived by his children, Joseph Berry, Nijha Nelms, Jasmine Nelms, Jason Nelms, Javonestiney Nelms, Nico Nelms, and Mariah Nelms; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Olivia Francine, Willie Jr., Beverly, Vincent, Elbert, Larry, Rickey, Terry, Darryl, and Kenyette; bonus mother, Vera Jackson; aunt, Olivia Blankenship; special friend, Sharia McCrary; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones, who will miss him dearly.

Public Visitation 12:00pm Saturday, October 10, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
