Mother Claudia was the youngest of 12 children born to Lawson Jr. and Geneva Shelton-Foster in Logan, WV. She was raised by her maternal aunt, Beola McDaniel. She was a graduate of Aracoma High School.
Mother Claudia gave her heart to the Lord at an early age. her Godly kind heart gave her many lifelong loving friends.
Mother Claudia later married Clarence “Rocky” Crawford and to this union was born Anna Maria, and Vincent Crawford. She was employed at Lazarus for 14 years and Sears for 21 years. She had failing health in recent years, but she maintained her faith in the Lord. She also was a church mother at Higher Ground AAA until her passing.
Mother Claudia is preceded in death by daughter, Anna Maria; parents, Lawson Jr. and Geneva Foster; aunt, Beola McDaniel; and siblings, Nathaniel, Thomas, Curtis Sr., Lawson Jr., Mary Hairston, Ruby Thompkins, Hattie Godfrey, Barbara Cook, Travinia Linville, and Sara Foster.
Mother Claudia leaves to cherish her precious memories, loving and devoted son, Vincent Crawford; granddaughters, Norel Crawford and Vanessa Ragland; 3 grandsons; loving sister, Helen Pearson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Mother Claudia will be forever missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Friday, February 28, 2020 at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, 870 St. Clair Ave.
Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.

I loved working with Miss Claudia at Sears. She was so sweet and caring. She even got school pictures of my kids and made sure I wrote my name along with their name so she wouldn’t forget who the parent was. I’m so sad that I will not be able to attend to say goodbye.
Memaw you will truly be missed. Your wings were ready but my heart wasn’t. You were a true saint in giving UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. And because of you I will always keep my heart open to forgiveness. You are HOME now no more pain and I know you will forever be with me LOVE YOU until we meet again.
