Corrine Elizabeth Tanner was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 5, 1948. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the age of 72. She was educated in the Licking Heights and Columbus Public School System where she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated from Central High School. She attended Franklin University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology degree.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, friend and phenomenal woman who enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and watching Bollywood movies. Her thirst for knowledge extended beyond her own into sharing and mentoring others. She loved traveling with the OASIS (Older Adults Still In Service) ministry and outreach program.
Early on she was employed as a keypunch operator before later working two jobs and attending night school to better herself to provide for her two daughters. While in college she was recruited as an Electronic Engineer to begin her career with then Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies, serving 20+ years before retiring. After a short-lived retirement, she returned to the workforce starting her second career as an Information Specialist with the Columbus Metropolitan Library-Main Branch before deciding to retire yet again after 17 years of service.
Corrine was a woman of God and began her walk in the early 1990’s at Rhema Christian Center where she served as a Deaconess and lead greeter of the Greeter Ministry, as well as being a member of several church organizations. After many years under her spiritual leader La Fayette Scales, she left and became a founding member of her beloved International Christian Center with Pastor Tyus Nedd. It was here that Corrine found her place to grow spiritually while encouraging her children and grandchildren to do the same. She always invited others to come hear the word and be part of the church she so dearly loved.
As a 20+ year breast cancer survivor, she was a fighter even after learning of her recent bout with pancreatic cancer she never stopped fighting; her strength was unparalleled. It’s because of who she was that her children and grandchildren are confident in who we are; it was her strength, dignity and smile that made her the woman that will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Ann Short (née Merrill) and Whitcomb (Linda) Tanner, sister Rhonda R. Tanner and brothers Ronald, Donald, Henry, and Larry Bell.
She is survived by daughters Tamara (Efrain) Ruelas, Tracey (Ron) Yates; grandchildren Ashleigh Boxill, Craig Tanner, and Charyce Davis; great-grandchildren Harmoni-Marie and Willie Coleman, IV and Martius Tanner; siblings Marsha L. Witherspoon (William), Stephanie D. Tanner, Karen S. Cooper (Gregory), Robert G. Tanner, Jeri L. Cunningham, Dennis F. Tanner (Kay), Patricia A. Tanner, Robin (Darnell) Thornton, Toye (Galin) Thomas, Michael A. and John E. Bell III. She is also survived by special friends Tina Madison-Phillips and Judyth Dodson and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Saturday, November 21, 2020 at International Christian Center, 6600 Busch Blvd,.
Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

So sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. I worked with Kay at AT&T/Lucent Technologies. She was always so pleasant and her smile could light up a room. My deepest sympathy to her family.
My condolences to the Tanner family. We all grew up together in Pataskala Oh and I always loved her. She was always so intelligent and loving. God bless you Kay.
My condolences to the Tanner family, Corrine was a beautiful person, she was in my”understanding God” class at Rhema. Very knowledgeable of God’s Word.She will be missed. Let the comfort of the Lord and all the beautiful memories sustain you all.
To the family of Ms. Corrine know that we are praying for you and speaking that Jesus’s peace that surpasses all your understanding will feel you all at this time an always. She will never be forgotten. She left a lasting impression on & in everyone she met she deposited seeds in all of us that will grow leaving a lasting legacy that will live on forever. If we all make the choice she did we will see her again. She started out as my library buddy an then became my church buddy & prayer partner. I could always count on seeing her at church I looked forward to seeing her Bible study, prayer etc… it didn’t matter she was going to be there even on the Sundays she worked she still made it to church she truly was faithful an committed. Just by the life she was living she made you want to be better & to do better & know the JESUS but more over the Holy Spirit that was her guide and friend. She kept it real & told it like it was, while pointing you to the lord & leading you in prayer. She could always make me laugh she was just naturally funny with out trying to be. I loved sitting next to her in church she always made me & others feel wanted & Loved. She truly was an amazing woman full of Strength, Character, wisdom and Intellect. Combined with grace, compassion & true grit. She was & is forever a Proverbs 31 fully Persuaded sold out Women for JESUS. The kind of woman we all want to be like when it’s all said an done. My sympathies and condolences for Corrine’s family. I was lucky enough to work with Corrine at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. She was such an amazing person. Many times during staff meetings or on Thursday nights my sides would hurt from laughing so much. She taught me so much during the time I worked with her and for that I am grateful.
