In 1994 Curtis united in marriage with Rebecca Dixon-Davis, where he gained his second daughter Zakiya Ali. He took great pride in both of his daughters a nd their children. If you asked him, he would say ” Tanisha is the best of me.” She was the apple of his eye.It blessed him immensely to watch his girls grow into gorgeous young women, handling life with zeal and grit- like he would do it!

Curtis Davis was a man of exalted character. He held closely to the old school vales ingrained in him by his beloved grandmother, Roberta Doss Stephenson, affectionately known as Mother Dear. Under her wings he became a man who loves HARD! He was a provider for his family first. Not only in the manner of just giving things (though he did give lots of things), but rather in terms of his stoic expectation that you learn to provide for yourself. Curtis was particularly nurturing towards his brother, nephews, male cousins, and grandsons because his greatest desire was to see them evolve into hard working, productive, respectable men. He was a conscientious and loyal friend, who remained appreciative of those who had poured into his life through the years, making him the man he was.

Curtis worked as a behavioral specialist in early years for UCP, TICO, State hospital, and Kuehnert Homes. It brought him immense pride to be able to help marginalized individuals gain independence. It was not uncommon for him to welcome his clients into his home or chaperone events for them. It was important to him to guard the dignity of his clients. He received accolades for his compassionate service. Curtis also enjoyed a career with the Columbus City School. There he held positions in numerous schools including Eastmoor HS, Westmoor MS, Colerain ES, Clearbrook MS, and Dominion MS. He was blessed to retire from both careers.

Some of Curtis’ favorite things were cars, American History, Politics, books, and electronics. Many in the community know him by his big white truck towering above all the other vehicles. Those close to him were always subject to be schooled or quizzed on American History or Political Events at a moment notice.

Curtis was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother. He leaves to cherish his memory with Loving wife Rebecca Dixon-Davis, daughters Tanisha (Greg) Davis, and Zakiya Ali, grandchildren Donte Baker, Donye Baker, Brooke Page, Temani Ali, DaQuan Tyson, Daiaun Tyson, great granddaughter Lelani Baker, brother Eddie (Monica) Doss, sister Beverly (Dewitt) Dorsey, Ernestine Doss, Aunts Ruth Walker, Dorothy Love, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
