William Lawrence Moore was born on January 3, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio. He entered into Eternal Peace on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the age of 89.

William, affectionately known as “Billy”, was born to the late Margaret Moore. He was the oldest of 5 children which included his twin brother, Robert Moore. Billy was a quiet child who enjoyed playing basketball. He often talked about spending time with his grandma, Hannah. Billy was a product of the Columbus City Schools System.

After completing school he entered into the United States Army where he served with his twin brother. Upon returning from the Army, he came home and started his family life. He met and married Sandra Haynes where they had their first daughter, Sharisse Moore in 1964. They later had Anissa Moore in 1969 (deceased), followed by their last daughter, Corie Moore in 1970. He cherished father and daughter time with his girls and created memories with them that would last a lifetime.

Billy was a lifetime lover of bowling. He bowled with the league at the Aero Lanes where he met his second wife, Evelyn Bass. Evelyn and Billy were the best of friends. They spent lots of time travelling, bowling, dressing alike, attending cabarets, and just enjoying life.

Billy started his walk with the Lord at Love Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jesse Woods. He became a Deacon and Evelyn became a Deaconess. They both sung in the choirs and they remained members until their passing. Billy was a devoted employee at Tico, 7-UP, and finally retiring from Pepsi.

Billy enjoyed bowling with family and friends. He loved tennis, which he often tried to get his grandchildren to play. He was a faithful jogger. He was an awesome basketball player and both he and his brother were often mentioned in the “Call and Post” Newspaper.

Billy enjoyed being a “Papa” and spending time with his grandchildren. He was forever dedicated to making sure they were raised with love and guidance. He was a true believer in the Lord and knew that his help and strength came from Him. He kept a song in his heart and a dance in his voice.

William leaves a legacy with his two daughters, his blended children, Derek (Jaquilla) Bass Sr., Denise Walker, Roselyn Smith, Damon Bass, Ronnie Fletcher, Genise (Steven)Tatum; a total of 26 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews. He also leaves to cherish his memory to special friends, Deacon Brown and Deacon Glover.

William will forever be missed; his love, his jokes and guidance live through his family and friends forever.
