In Memorial

Deonte Delray Smith

Deonte Delray Smith, known as “Tay”, was born October 30, 1996 in Columbus, Ohio to Sherri Smith and Jerome Gordon.

On Monday April 13th, 2015 at 8:02 pm, the gentle voice of God whispered “Come Home.” Our beloved Deonte departed this life and entered into life eternal in Heaven. We may not understand God’s timing but we do know that He makes no mistakes and He is perfect in all of His ways.  We count it a blessing to have had 18 years of memories with someone as precious as Tay. A student at Beechcroft High School and member of The Father’s House Church, there wasn’t anywhere Deonte went that he didn’t brighten up the room! At any given moment you would see him either smiling, playing jokess on anyone around him, and his favorite thing in the world was dancing! There is not a song known to man that Deonte couldn’t and wouldn’t dance to.

Deonte has been greeted at the Heavenly Gates by his Grandfather: James Earl Smith; Brother: Ishmael Smith; and Sister: Shaela Smith.

He leaves to celebrate his life Parents Sherri Smith and Jerome Gordon; Grandmothers: Gloria Earthman and Deborah Gordon; Brothers: Brandon and Marcus Hoston, Myzarome and Jerome Gordon II, and Gary Johnson; Sisters:  Daiza Hoston, Mytaiza, MyLeah, and Mahogany Gordon, Essence Padgett, and Heaven Scales; Aunts: Mable Michaels and Lea Smith; Uncles: Bill Saunders, Daryel and Shawn (Angel) Gordon; Godmother: Lawhetta Laneir; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 6:00pm and Funeral 7:00pm Thursday April 23, 2015 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE 2500 Cleveland Ave.
