Deotha Pannell, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio, earned her heavenly wings on December 25, 2019. Deotha (AKA Mama Dee) was born on December 18, 1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Lonnie and Leona Davidson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Deotha was an enthusiastic, social and passionate person who loved dancing, baking, working puzzles and reading. She was a member of Martin Luther King Jr. Temple 1216, Columbus, Ohio. She retired from the National Association of Letter Carriers where she worked as a secretary. Mama Dee was known as “The Chief Cook and Bottle Washer of the Clan. Her favorite saying was “Dynamite comes in small packages”.

Left to cherish her memories are her four children, Leona (Cat) Pannell-Herbert, Gladine Bruer (Carl), James (JP) Pannell, Walter (Cookie) Pannell
(Renee); Step-children, Jerry Pannell, Tyrone Broden, Ruby Sherman-Brown and Shelbye Young; brother, Warren Armestead (Mary), Wesley Armstead (Shirley). Deotha leaves a host of grandchildren, great grands, great-great-grands, nieces and nephews; sister in law, Gloria Davidson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Joreece Kee (Franklin County Senior Options); Kobacher House Staff, (Columbus Oh) Hubbard Hospice House (Charleston WV) for the excellent care and support provided during her transition.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Thursday, January 2, 2020 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

Interment at Glen Rest.
