Devon Spencer

SpencerDevon

Devon Adam Spencer was born on September 23, 1989 to Dale and Kelly Spencer in Columbus, Ohio where he grew up and was educated through Columbus Public Schools. He departed this life on June 17, 2018.

Devon was a talented athlete where he started playing little league football at the tender age of five years old in North Columbus. During his youth, he played for the Dolphins, the Falcons as a junior in little league and continued to excel in the sport through high school. Devon also had a love for swimming and spent many hours at the neighborhood swimming pool during the summer months with family and friends; he even saved a few lives while doing so! Devon had a zeal for living life to its fullest and had many talents that led him to explore various career paths after graduating from high school, however, what he enjoyed most was being a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children, watching movies, sharing stories, playing board games including spending hours passionately playing video games well into his adulthood. In his spare time, he also enjoyed hanging out with childhood and neighborhood friends.

Devon was preceded in death by his mother Kelly Spencer. Left to cherish his memory, his wife Courtney; children Jhaniya, Devon II, Faith and David Spencer; father, Dale Spencer; brothers, Djuan Spencer, Dale (Angel) Spencer and sister, Tianne (Marshall) Travis. Devon is also survived by grandparents Amos and Ocilla Spencer and Barbara Breckenridge along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Monday, June 25, 2018 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Union Cemetery.

Condolence Messages

  1. To the Spencer family and friends, you have my deepest sympathy in your loss. God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the garden of Eden (paradise) to care for and to extend it earthwide, have many children, and to fill the earth. (Genesis 1:28) They were to live forever as long as they were obedient, which they were not! (Genesis 2:15-17). God’s purpose did not change and soon, He will reverse the effects of inherited sin and will eliminate death forever! (Isaiah 25:8)

  2. Hey Dev…. I’m still in disbelief!! We definitely are going to miss you but I know your back on Aunt Kelly’s arms love you cousin R.I.P

  3. Am so sorry for your loss may God be with you

  4. We would like to offer the family our heartfelt condolences. Many things in life suffering, disappointments and loneliness can bring sadness, even despair at such times you may wonder where can you turn to for help. 2 Cor 1:3&4 has a unfailing source of comfort. Thoughts of peace.
