LewisDonovan

Donovan Latrell Lewis was born to Rebecca Stewart (Duran) and Daryl Lewis on May 14th, 2002. Donovan was the middle child of seven. Every aspect of Donovan was grand from his entrance into this world to his untimely death. His high energy and enthusiastic personality made him both a handful and a ball of fun! His family knew that he was special! He could brighten any room. Donovan was all about inclusivity and never met a stranger. He was both passionate and insightful. Some would say wise beyond his years.

Donovan was an avid sportsman, he played basketball and football throughout high school. His true passion was music, with a keenness for spoken word. During his youth he served alongside his family in numerous volunteer initiatives thus furthering his love of the community. It was his desire to see everyone win. Donovan’s sole purpose in life was to love and to be loved for being himself #BeYourself

Donovan leaves to cherish his memories, parents, siblings, other relatives, girlfriend, and a host of friends.

Condolence from Sue Gardiner on September 3rd, 2022 9:20 am

To Donovan’s family,
I was so saddened to hear of Donovan’s death. I remember when he was in my class at St. Tims in 8th grade, that while he had his share of struggles, he was fascinated with learning about religion. He actually started some one on one lessons with me about becoming Catholic. Even though he did not finish that process, he did learn a lot about God and faith. Let this be a comfort to you, that it is this faith that will lead him to God’s warm and loving embrace forever. I wish all of you peace at this difficult time and will keep you in my prayers.
Peace,
Sue Gardiner

Condolence from Marvis McGowan on September 4th, 2022 6:37 pm

This is heartbreaking and unbelievable. Please know that you’re in our prayers. Donovan was one of the young men I mentored while working for Ohio Guidestone. He Had an amazing smile and great personality. There’s no such thing as perfection so it isn’t surprising that he had personality or character flaws, we all do. Please know that we’re here if you need to talk or if you need anything. May God-bless you all.

Condolence from Marvis McGowan on September 4th, 2022 6:50 pm

Donovan was one of the young men I mentored while working at Ohio Guidestone. He and my son played basketball together several times. I remember his great personality, strongwill and amazing smile. There’s no such thing as perfection in human beings so any character flaws he had were not unlike those we all have. God is merciful and kind. Please know that we’re here if you need to talk or need anything. May God-bless you.

To the family of Donovan Lewis . I look at the sinceless lost of life at the hands of a 30 year law enforcement officer. I too, have served over 30 years in law enforcement as well. I just can’t seem to come to grips with this murder… Regardless of the issues between Donovan and his girlfriend. This should not have been his punishment….As a black law enforcement officer.. I feel the same pain, Donovan could have been my grandson I will never condone wrong… What happened to Donovan was just wrong and reckless..To the family, please stay strong…and continue to fight for change. Lastly, as hard as a may be for the family, pray for the officers all who were involved…We as blacks must continue to fight for change.. regardless of our positions or titles… Donovan should be alive today. I pray for your healing. I stand ready to support your stance on change.
